Is Marijuana Addictive?
Many people question whether or not marijuana is addictive. Opponents of marijuana will tell you it is addictive while supporters will say not so much. If you research the topic, you’ll be told that the addiction rate is about 10% of users. We all should know that statistics are normally bullshit and can be manipulated to suit your cause. To really know whether weed is addictive or not you really need to think about the different aspects of addiction.
What Is Not Addictive?
In reality, you can become addicted to anything. Some addictions, such as heroin, make you physically dependent. Most addictions, like food, only get you mentally hooked. Smoking weed is a mental addiction. You will not go through physical withdrawal from stopping. You may get irritable, but that happens with most mental addictions. Here’s a list of some other things that will piss a lot of people off if they stopped using:
- Air Conditioning
I could go on and on with things we don’t need, but as a society we’re addicted to. Things that are enjoyable, such as marijuana, will be used by people. It’s all about not letting it take over your life. Be responsible with your use and lead a productive life.
Who Are You?
Do you normally do everything in excess? If the answer is yes, smoking weed would probably be addictive for you. Do you have strong willpower? If so, most addictions will be easy for you to overcome. If you can never say no to anything you enjoy, you should probably just stay away from all drugs. If you think you will develop a problem, stay on the side of caution.
What To Do If You’re Addicted
If smoking pot has taken over your life, go get help. A lot of people can’t kick a habit with no support. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Many good people go through many different addictions. Sometimes friends and family are all you need. Sometimes you need counseling.
Good luck and be responsible.
